As mentioned on the “About Me” page, I enjoyed a forty-year career in the IT world, much of that time with Apple and Microsoft. My early years were focused on “technical markets” including CADD, media and emerging market technologies. Next, I ventured into the world of embedded systems and the last ten years have been focused on traffic and vehicle software. I had the privilege of teaching at the University of Washington in Seattle and Honder College of Inner Mongolia, China.
Microsoft taught me “do the right thing and don’t be stupid” and Apple spoke to me with “the journey is the reward”. My work was usually rewarding and always allowed me to partner with some amazingly brilliant people. Listing them all would take pages, but here are a few that stand out:
Alice Chang – Incredibly creative and strong leader. I love her new project – https://www.perfectcorp.com
Barrett Thomson – Thanks for many good memories together! I wish you all the best…
Bill Jacobi – Hired me into Microsoft and became a technical mentor.
Bob McNeel – Brought me and Cindy into the tech world. Continues to bless us daily! https://www.rhino3d.com
Bob Spink – My motorcycle work buddy. Introduced me to the Iron Butt world.
Bruce Zhou – Founder of Honder College of Inner Mongolia, China and friend.
Bryan Mistele – Gave me the opportunity to run the office in Beijing, China. Xièxiè!
Craig Polarra – My first boss and mentor in the electronics world.
Dan Davis – Helped me, as a manager and friend, transition out of Microsoft.
Doug Houger – Amazing Microsoft leader who believed in me and gave me amazing opportunities.
Dr. Olson – Invited me to my first international business opportunity in Taiwan.
Jan Huang – Inspirational leader of CyberLink. Thanks for making “Direct Media” possible!
Jeff Raikes – The definition of great Microsoft leadership!
Jim Kuhr – Gave me my first Apple Computer job and helped me transition into the corporate world.
Joanne Harrell – Caring manager who taught me that “everything communicates”.
Kelly File – Hired me and then had the courage to switch and work for me.
Kevin Eagan – Marketeer defined and also fellow motorcycle enthusiast.
Mark Edelsward – Best supporting manager during difficult transition times.
Pete Biege – Taught me how to both manage people and support people.
Peter Wise – Great memories of large-scale productions together.
Raleigh Harris – One of my first bosses and the man who introduced me to Lazy Daze RVs
Richard Smith – Believed in me enough to invite me into his world of electronics.
Talonya Adams – Inspirational woman who defines tenacity in life.
Now, may I take what I have learned and pass it along to the next generation. This is my last chance to give others their first chance. If I can help in your career in any way, please feel free to join my network at LinkedIn. I have found “networking” to have been critical to my career success. We really do need each other!
